In the heart of the Parisian gay scene, Jim is the ultimate Gym Queen, influencer, and object of everyone's desire. A documentary about young Ukrainians in the town of Mariinka, whose lives have been forever shaped by more than a decade of war and conflict in the Donbas. A story of connection, national loyalty, and the fault lines where political conflicts break even blood ties.

In 2016, Belgian filmmaker Pieter-Jan de Peu made *The Land of the Enlightened*, about child soldiers in Afghanistan. This time he portrays Ukraine, travelling to the front line to closely follow survivors in the town of Mariinka. The film premiered at IDFA last year, where it was showered with rave reviews. *Mariinka* does not look away from the war, bringing the humanity of those left behind into sharp focus.

Romanian director Radu Jude (*Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World*) is the king of social-critical cinema, and with *Kontinental ‘25* he delivers another wonderfully rebellious satire about everything wrong with modern society. The film premiered at Berlinale, and we briefly feared it might skip Dutch independent cinemas entirely. Luckily, the programmers at Eye came to the rescue: thanks to their Previously Unreleased programme, the best 'orphan films' of last year are screened across the country. We’re showing this absurd gem early during the Cineville Preview Days.

When director Jane Schoenbrun made gender horror *I Saw the TV Glow* in 2024, it almost wasn’t shown in Dutch cinemas. But the Cineville theatres joined forces to bring it to the Netherlands exclusively anyway, through A24. Fortunately, we don't have to launch a rescue mission this time, because Schoenbrun is *so* back on the big screen, right where their work belongs. With *Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma –* which scooped the Queer Palm in Cannes this year – Schoenbrun makes a delightful sleepover classic about pop culture, being queer, and slashers.

***Wild Foxes* at the Cineville Preview Days**
Belgian director Valéry Carnoy already proved he knows how to win juries over with his short film *Titan* (which took home over thirty prizes!). With his feature debut *Wild Foxes*, he did it all over again. The film premiered at Cannes last year and returned home with two prestigious awards in its pocket: the Europa Cinemas Label and the SACD Coup de Coeur Award, because the jury felt the young protagonist's energy was remarkably like that of James Dean.
