In the near future, all nature has been polluted and destroyed. Mixed Cape Town couple Lwando and Taro have won a prize: a time-travel trip to the year 1647. Here, in their modern bungalow within a fenced-off area of the pristine landscape, they can relax and enjoy themselves. But their relationship is put to the test when one of them wants to rewrite the past.
South African director and screenwriter Jenna Cato Bass previously made the psychological thriller Good Madam, which focused on the legacy of the apartheid regime. The anti-colonial sci-fi Future Tense shows how past traumas ripple into the future.
